About Us
Mokuyobi is a Los Angeles-based contemporary brand blending nostalgic influences with modern design. From texture-centric and print-forward fabrics to sculptural, functional bags, we prioritize usability and comfort. Made ethically and locally in small batches for women who value color, craft, and live with intention.

We are not here to follow the rules of fashion. We are here to rethink them. Mokuyobi challenges outdated ideas about what quality looks like and who gets to wear it. Our work is rooted in care, craft, and connection. From our choice of materials to our production methods, everything is designed to feel personal and made to last.
We use durable, animal-free nylon for all of our bags. This strong, long-wearing material supports both performance and principle. Many of our garments are made from 100% cotton fabrics, selected for their comfort, breathability, and long-term wearability. Every fabric we choose reflects our commitment to quality, ethics, and design integrity.
When you invest in a Mokuyobi bag, it is made to last a lifetime. We offer a lifetime warranty from manufacturer's defects on all our bags.
Everything we make comes from a clear set of values. We produce locally in Los Angeles, where we follow fair labor practices, visit our production spaces, and work closely with people we know and trust. We treat manufacturing as a creative process, not a mass operation. We make small batches with intention, so every item reflects the time and thought that went into it. Julie Seastrom founded Mokuyobi in 2006. She has been sewing for over twenty years and still creates every first product by hand. Every pattern, every sample, every shape begins with her. Julie thoughtfully develops each design from a clear vision in her mind, transforming creativity into a fully realized, sewn product. This is not a process handed off to someone across the world. It is personal, physical work. It is her craft.
In a world where many brand owners never touch the products they sell, Julie stays involved in every detail. That closeness shapes the entire brand and defines the kind of care you can see and feel in every piece.
The Mokuyobi customer embraces style as a statement of values and personal expression. She seeks more than just fashion. She looks for meaning; with pieces that tell a story, crafted with care and intention.
When she carries a Mokuyobi bag, something clicks. The pieces feel genuine. She values the thought and craftsmanship behind each design, and others recognize it too.

She puts it on and sees herself more clearly. She is not dressing to fit in. She is playing, exploring, becoming. When people ask about it, she shares the story. Because she wants others to feel what she felt. To know that fashion can be fun without being wasteful, colorful without being childish, expressive without being inaccessible.

She found Mokuyobi.
Now, she wears who she is.
